CHILDRENS CYCLE LIBRARY
A free initiative which offers our fleet of 70 children’s bikes to local island residents for long-term loans of 3-months, 6-months, 9-months and 12-months.
This initiative aims to break down financial barriers and increase access to cycling for children in our community.
Building children’s cycling confidence, and instilling a sense of responsibility as they look after the bikes in their care before they are loaned out after them, the Cycle Library strives to see children reap all the benefits that cycling brings.
Once your loan period is up, you will be offered a bike the next size up if required!

VOLUNTEERING

What Participants Have Said
"I regularly attend the Embark walks which take place every Friday morning in the Stornoway castle grounds. These walks have had a massive impact in terms of enhancing my quality of life and mental and physical wellbeing. I have met lots of wonderful people amongst support staff, volunteers and fellow participants and have, as a consequence greatly expanded my circle of friends and acquaintances. I have always found the support staff and volunteers very caring and attentive to my needs and everyone else on the walk and have had many memorable conversations. Both myself and others have remarked that the group feels like an extended family and community where we all look out for each other."
"I have only recently started joining in with some of Embark activities, I have very much enjoyed the Friday walking in the Castle grounds. And have really enjoyed the trips out on the E-bikes. Both activities encourage and assist with better exercise and an overall better feeling which I am sure are very good for the mind’s wellbeing. The team leaders are very friendly and encouraging and take great care to ensure all in the group benefit from conversation and camaraderie."
"I have age related mobility issues, looks like I will have a hip replacement in the next 12 months or so, the E-Bike has been a great way to get out and about. Thanks to all team at the Embark Project."
