PAST PROJECTS

Jubilee Garden

From April 2022 to March 2024, Volunteering Hebrides received funding to transform an overgrown garden within the grounds of UHI North, West and Hebrides into a beautiful, tranquil area, growing a variety of fruit, vegetables and flowers and providing a haven for nature and a resource benefitting the whole community.

 Blue Moon Community Rowing Club

Through our former community interest company Staran, we built from scratch our very own St Ayles skiff boat, the Blue Moon, as a therapeutic project that the participants were very proud to be part of.  Once launched she formed the backbone of a Stornoway rowing club that offered her for supported opportunities to get on the water.

The Blue Moon has since gone on to join the community coastal rowing club An Eathar, based on the West Side of Lewis. It continues to go out on the high seas and be enjoyed by those who row her.
