Are you 16-25?  Facing some struggles in life?  Barriers that seem to stop you from stepping in to the future you want?

Coping with life, friends, family, school and leaving school can be very daunting: sometimes we just don't know what we want to do, or we have a dream but have no idea how to even start to make it a reality. 

 

Life often isn't easy and we all need a bit of support. 

​

Building Futures Hebrides is here for you. We want to help you at your point of need, overcoming barriers to employment and training to help you reach your potential and the future you want.

SOCIAL LEARNING ACADEMY

​Working offers many benefits:

  • developing essential life skills

  • earning money

  • gaining valuable experience for something you want to do in the future

  • growing in confidence, self-esteem and independence

  • developing friendships with people of all ages and from different backgrounds

You will learn about and start to experience these benefits for yourself at our academy.  

​​

Our Social Learning Academy is a unique programme designed to help you gain skills and experiences that will help you get in to the world of work.

Work Place

What is Included?

 

  1. ​2/3-week voluntary work placement in a nurturing, supportive environment, shadowing Third Sector Hebrides staff in a variety of roles and projects. ​We will introduce the fundamentals of the working world, provide a daily routine and help you tackle barriers to work and education. ​

  2. Opportunity to gain accredited training certificates in first aid, health & safety at work, food hygiene and customer service skills.  â€‹We will also deliver workshops in Good Conversations, Money Matters & Demystifying HR.​

  3. 1:1 sessions with an employment advisor covering a range of topics such as interviews, CV writing, applying for jobs, using an appropriate email address, work related conduct and how volunteering can support employment prospects.​

  4. Free uniform/interview-wear, breakfast and lunch.  Paid travel expenses and a celebratory graduation lunch with the staff team.​

  5. A follow-up support session 1-2 months following graduation.
