“tackling loneliness and social isolation in our communities”

BEFRIENDING LEWIS & HARRIS & ISLANDERS!

Befriending Lewis & Harris is a unique, essential project that supports hundreds of people every year, helping them feel better connected to others and their community.
The service includes:
Group Activities - a range of mutually beneficial, social events offered through our Islanders! initiative (see below for more details)

Kindness Calls - for those in our community who are housebound, telephone befriending is a friendly call and check-in from a trained telephone befriender

Face-to-face - a volunteer befriender matched with someone who might be experiencing loneliness and social isolation (no longer taking new referrals)

The aim of Islanders! is to tackle loneliness and social isolation by providing a wide range of supported, social, group activities, with (hopefully!) something for everyone.
Our events are all about bringing people together, having fun and creating lasting memories.
Absolutely ANYONE living on the island can get involved. It is quick, easy and completely FREE to join and to come to any of our events. For more information on what we have to offer click here.
