First Minister opens Hebridean Chocolates
Following the opening of Hebridean Chocolates by Alex Salmond,
First Minister of Scotland, Alasdair Nicholson, Chief Executive
of Third Sector Hebrides, said that this was a transformational
project: not just the transformation of a former bakery into a new
business, but about the transformation of the lives of those engaged
with it. Alasdair also said there were two important elements: one
was the vision the Board of Directors shared, and the other was the
input of £40,000 of Scottish Government social enterprise funding as
the first brick in the funding wall, without which the project would
not have been able to obtain match funding to complete the initial
investment. There was a great challenge ahead, but with a hard-working
team and a quality product there was no reason why this new business
should not break the mould and provide the added value of community
benefit to the establishment of a business that was proud to be Hebridean
and taking that Hebridean brand to new customers at home, on the mainland
and further afield. “We are very pleased the First Minister was able to
formally open the business, and shared and supported our ambitions.”
